Zeta Teacher’s Classroom Adopted By Local Sigma Chapter

(Ladson, SC, August 31, 2018) – Soror Yvette F. Clark-Blake is actively making a difference in the lives of children in Dorchester County, South Carolina. The Sigma Brothers of Iota Theta Sigma Chapter of Summerville, SC offered to support her educational efforts by adopting her fifth-grade classroom at Joseph R. Pye Elementary, a Palmetto’s Finest Exemplar School, located in Ladson, South Carolina.


The Iota Theta Sigma, Summerville Chapter, visited Soror Clark-Blake’s fifth-grade classroom and donated ample school supplies on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Joseph R. Pye Elementary School. Principal Wanda Carroll-Williams, Yvette F. Clark-Blake, and her students were greeted by Iota Theta Sigma Brothers Kevin Blake, Michael Bligen, Kionne Epps, Leonard Green, Bakari Jackson, James Weaver, and Cecil Williams on this occasion. “I’m excited that my Sigma Brothers are supporting my classroom this year. This support demonstrates the true bond that Zetas and Sigmas truly have.” stated Soror Clark-Blake. “My students were excited to see them and welcomed them to our classroom. My students look forward to the future visits with the Sigma Men. We are collaborating in supporting the educational program of future leaders in the community.” The Sigma Brothers will visit the classroom throughout the year in support of their academic endeavors and school programs.


Soror Yvette F. Clark-Blake is a veteran teacher who relocated to the Charleston area from Los Angeles, California. Soror Clark-Blake is a Diamond Life Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. She has held many leadership positions on the local, state, and regional leaderships to include past Southern California State Director, Pacific Region Male Network Coordinator, and Chapter President. Currently, Soror Clark-Blake is the Social Action Chair of Gamma Zeta Chapter.


The Iota Theta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated was chartered in Ridgeville, South Carolina on December 31, 1986 by seven college-educated men who saw a dire need for positive influence in the community. The Iota Theta Sigma Chapter has expanded the chapter’s original footprint to provide Bigger and Better Business, Education, and Social Action partnerships, services and programs to Ridgeville and surrounding communities in Dorchester County in South Carolina. The ITS Chapter supports its organization’s programmatic thrust, Education, through partnerships and services in their local community.
